Description
High resolution gamma spectrometry is used for activity measurement of environmental samples. Detector calibration has to be performed for every geometry and every type of sample. Commercially available standards or natural radioactive materials are used for calibration. KCl is very suitable material. The activity of unknown element, which has at least two gamma lines, in the interval 200 - 2000 keV, is determined based on 40 K activity. Activity of 226 Ra in soil is determined as 17.4(7) Bq. Also, the summing correction coefficients for 214 Bi are determined. (author)
