ISOLDE as a source of neutron-rich nuclei. Chapter 2
Description
The ISOLDE-II on-line isotope separator has been working for four years. During this period, the development of new experimental techniques has continued notably through systematic investigations of possible target and ion source configurations. This paper summarises recent developments with respect to the beam-handling system and the target and ion sources. A UC target that allows particularly high yields of neutron-rich nuclei is described, and an assessment of different production methods is given. (author)
