Octets, triplets and the top quark mass
Description
The authors discusses N=1 locally supersymmetric Grand Unified Theories in which both the gauge group and supersymmetry and spontaneously broken in the same sector. It is proven that all such theories naturally contain light SU(3)/sub C/ octet, SU(2)/sub L/ triplet, and U(1)/sub Y/ singlet chiral superfields in the low energy Lagrangian. He shows that these superfields lower the prediction of the top quark mass by at least 20 GeV, facilitating agreement with the experimental data
