Interaction in the TiN-TiB2 system

Description
Interaction of TiNsub(0.96) and TiB2 was studied within a wide range of temperatures. On the basis of the data on the melting temperature, phase and chemical composition, lattice constants phase and alloy microhardness, the phase diagram is plotted for the quasi-binary eutectic TiNsub(0.96)-TiBsub(2) system with an eutectic temperature of 2600+-40 deg C and composition of 40 mass % TiNsub(0.96) and 60 mass % TiB2. The given system is shown to be characterized by a slight mutual solubility of the components (up to 3 mass % TiB2 in TiNsub(0.96), dissolution of TiNsub(0.96) in TiB2 being practically absent)
