Qinshan phase II --- A new step towards self-reliance in nuclear power development in China

  • 1. Beijing Institute of Nuclear Engineering, Beijing (China)

Description

The Qinshan Phase II Nuclear Power Plant (hereafter called Qinshan-II)is the first 2-loop twin-unit plant with capacity of 600MWe for each, which is located at the southern part of Qinshan mountain facing the Hangzhouwan bay mouth, 98 kilometres to Shanghai city. The engineering activities of the plant are under full responsibility of chinese institutes with limited technical assistance from abroad. The main parameters and design features especially the engineered safeguard features of the plant are illustrated. The predicted time schedule, the proportion of equipment indigenization, the applicable codes, regulations and rules are also presented. Qinshan-II is a new step towards self-reliance of nuclear power development in China, a sound base for transition to bigger capacity(1000MWe class)
