The Majorana neutrinoless double-beta decay experiment

Description
The Majorana double-beta decay experiment is based on an array of Ge detectors with a total mass of 500 kg of Ge enriched to 86 % in 76Ge. A discussion is given of background reduction by: material selection, detector segmentation, pulse shape analysis, and electroformation of copper parts. Predictions of the experiment sensitivity are given (T1/20ν∼1027 yr). This corresponds to mν∼0.003-0.004 eV

Эксперимент Майораны по двойному бета-распаду основан на сборке Ge-детектора с общей массой 500 кг, обогащенного до 86 % 76Ge. Уменьшение фона достигается выбором материалов, сегментацией детектора, анализом формы импульсов и электроформовкой медных деталей. Вычисленная чувствительность составляет T1/20ν∼1027 лет, что соответствует mν∼0.003-0.004 эВAdditional details
