Radiation damage of α-Fe due to 27 keV self-implantation

  • 1. Academia Sinica, Shanghai, SH (China). Shanghai Inst. of Nuclear Research

Description

Pure iron foils were implanted with Fe ions of 27 keV at the range of doses from 2 x 1016 to 5 x 1016 ions/cm2. The damage structure was observed by CEMS. The results show that there are three sites: Fe atom without surrounding vacancy, Fe atom associated with one vacancy, and with two or more vacancies. The temperature and the migration energy of monovacancy were estimated to be about 100 deg C and 0.9 eV, respectively. The vacancy thermal relases energy was 1.1 eV
