Description
The development of nuclear power in India is traced over forty years. The work at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre is outlined. Then the energy policy and pace of nuclear power progress is discussed. The current (1986) state of the national nuclear energy programme is explained. There are five operating nuclear power plants in India. The fuel cycle facilities are looked at in the next section. These include fuel fabrication, heavy water production, reprocessing and waste management. The nuclear strategy for the future is discussed. (U.K.)
