Longitudinal x dependence of parton transverse momentum

Description

In two models of free quark gas and bag, sum rules are obtained for the average transverse momentum of partons inside hadrons which constrain its fractional longitudinal momentum (x) dependence in terms of the parton x distribution. The average squared transverse momentum peaks in between x = 0 and 1, and vanishes linearly at x = 1. (author)
