Flywheel with bursting safeguard

Description

To guarantee the safety in nuclear power plants, a flywheel which can be used therein is improved in such a way that it does not do any damage in case of accidents. It has a burst protection for protection against excessive speeds of the shaft: A force acts in the direction of the front side of the shaft portion and more particularly on the small diameter of a frustro-conical shaft portion shrunk on the flywheel, and a catching and centering device is provided for the flywheel in said direction and adjacent to the latter. Abstract (German)

Um die Sicherheit in Kernkraftanlagen zu gewaehrleisten, wird ein dort einsetzbares Schwingrad so verbessert, dass es bei einem Unfall keinen Schaden anrichtet. Es besitzt eine Berstsicherung zum Schutz gegen Ueberdrehzahlen der Welle: Auf das Schwungrad, das auf einen kegelstumpffoermigen Wellenteil aufgeschrumpft ist, wirkt eine Kraft in Richtung auf die Stirnseite des Wellenteils mit dem kleinsten Durchmesser und in dieser Richtung ist neben dem Schwungrad eine Fang- und Zentriervorrichtung fuer dieses vorgesehen.
