Synergism in extraction of europium in presence of antipyrine and a β-diketone

Description
Synergism in the extraction of europium has been studied in the presence of antipyrine and β-diketones like benzoyltrifluoroacetone, furoyltrifluoroacetone and tri-fluoroacetylacetone. The nature of synergistic adduct has been evaluated taking into consideration the influence of europium-β-diketone complex in the aqueous phase. A linear correlation has also been established between the two-phase stability constants, P31β31, of the adducts and the partition coefficients and dissociation constants of the β-diketones. (author)
