Description

A brief survey is presented on the content of 40K, 238U, 232Th, 206Ra, 87Rb, 208Bi in certain soils in Czechoslovakia. Also presented is a survey of the 40K level in some plants. The level of the trace elements in the soils, expressed in units of 10-6 μCi/100 g soil, was ascertained as varying from 0.0271 to 0.04 for 206Ra to up to 240 for 208Bi. Novel data are also given on the content of 40K in 13 meadow plants for which the level was ascertained to vary between 4,760 (Deschampsia caespitosa P. Beav.) and 17,126 (Ranunculus acer L.) in units of 10-6 μCi/100 g ash. (L.O.)
