Effect of heat treatment on carbon distribution in 36N alloy

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Lvov. Fiziko-Mekhanicheskij Inst.

Description

Carbon distribution at its different content in invar 36N by the method of autoradiography and effect of the carbon content and heat treatment on the temperature coefficient of the linear expansion, are investigated. It is established, that to obtain the optimum properties in the carbon-containing invar it is necessary to decrease the carbon content below the limit of it solubility in γ-solid solution at the temperature hardening and to increase the time or the temperature of the homogenizing annealing, preceding to the regular heat treatment of the alloy
