Analysis of the isotope and charge distributions of the products of reactions induced by heavy ions

  • 1. Institute of Nuclear Physics at the Tomsk Polytechnical Institute

Description

The charge and isotope distributions of the products of reactions induced by boron, neon, argon, and calcium ions are analyzed under the assumption of two mechanisms for the shaping of the experimental distributions: the fission of compound nuclei formed in complete-fusion reactions, and the fission of excited heavy nuclei produced by deep inelastic transfer. The second of these mechanisms explains the anomalously large discrepancies between the experimental data and the predictions of the statistical fission model for compound nuclei, and it leads to a good description of the experimental distributions
