Decameter astrospectroscopy

Description

Possibilities of the method for investigation of rarefied cold cosmic bodies by the carbon lines in the decameter range are considered in the popular form. In 1978 the spectral lines in the decameter waves were detected for the first time by the UTR-2 radiotelescope. One succeeded in recording the line with quantum numbers n=603-732. The recombination lines were observed for the first time during absorption. The recombination lines determined in the decameter waves demonstrate brightly the effect of line broadening caused by inelastic particle collisions. The results are mainly obtained for interstellar clouds being in the direction of the Cassiopeia A radiosource
