Energy calculation of vacancy formation im metals

Description
The available procedure for energy calculation of the vacancy formation in metals is reconsidered in the frames of simple models of a solid body - continuum and pair bonds. Corrections are introduced to eliminate the essential difference between the calculated and experimental data. Both models are brought in mutual correspondence making the surface energy of vacancy space equal to the energy of broken bonds per atom and to appropriate sublimation energy. The universality of the procedure permits it to be used in case of crystals with complicated electron and crystal structure including heteroatomic compounds
