Use of accelerators in metallurgy for analytical requirements

The application of activation analysis in the metallurgy of iron and non-ferrous metals is not a common procedure, but its importance has been increasing in accordance with the growing demand for ultra-high purity metals. To be able to control the technological processes the activation analytical measuring methods have to supply the results within minutes after the sampling. Mainly neutron generators have been used for the determination of microalloying elements and oxygen content as well as for reference probe production. (Sz.J.)
