Recent optical observations of some evolved H II regions
Description
A variety of recent optical observations of the HII regions in the Magellanic Clouds, M42, M8, M16, and M17 are compared with observations of molecular complexes and thermal radio emission. It appears that all these H II regions are composed of a mass of ionization fronts entering into the densest regions of inhomogeneous masses of HI, dust and molecules. Many of the motions appear simply to be flows from these ionization fronts. However, some motions are not easily explained in this way. 14 figs., 31 refs
