Nuclear reactor control rod
Description
The control rod for the FBR consists of individual cylindrical links, which are connected together by joints. At least one of the links is empty and is used for collecting gas, which is formed in the other links during burn-up of the neutron absorber material accomodated in them. The individual links are connected to each other via flexible gas pipes, which are made as hollow pipes taken via joints and in the shape of a spiral. The efficiency and life of the control rod are increased by this device. (HP)

Der Steuerstab fuer den SBR besteht aus einzelnen zylinderfoermigen Gliedern, welche ueber Gelenke miteinander verbunden sind. Mindestens eines der Glieder ist leer und dient der Sammlung von Gas, welches in den anderen Gliedern beim Abbrand des in ihnen untergebrachten Neutronenabsorberstoffen entsteht. Die einzelnen Glieder stehen hierzu ueber flexible Gasleitungen miteinander in Verbindung, die als hohle, durch die Gelenke gefuehrte und in Form einer Wendelwindung ausgebildete Rohre ausgefuehrt sind. Der Wirkungsgrad und Betriebsdauer des Steuerstabes wird durch diese Massnahme erhoeht. (HP)Files
