Properties and irradiation behaviour of near-isotropic graphites for large HTGRs

  • 1. General Atomic Co., San Diego, Calif. (USA)

Description

Several new near-isotropic graphites have been developed and evaluated for use as core components in large HTGRs. Physical, mechanical and chemical properties have been measured and irradiation behaviour has been determined. The results indicate the petroleum-coke-based near-isotropic graphites have excellent potential to fulfill all requirements of large HTGR core designs. (author)
