AEC's long-term nuclear program reports

An advisory committee, in addition to other committees to the Japan Atomic Energy Commission, was established in 1981, to deal with the questions of the long-term nuclear power program. The purpose is to study a ten-year nuclear program, and the problems associated with the development. The advisory committee will present its report in early June. The outline of the reports by its sub-committees is given. Basic problems sub-committee: Aspects not taken up by other sub-committees are covered, including nuclear power promotion, basic research, personnel training, and FBR commercialization. Nuclear fuel cycle sub-committee: The technology in this field in Japan has matured to the stage of practical application from the stage of research and development, except rad-waste management. Reactor multi-purpose use sub-committee: In addition to high-temperature gas reactors, attention is given to the use of LWR heat. (Mori, K.)
