Description
This paper present experimental data on hollow fiber non-dispersive solvent extraction (HFNDSX) of Am (III) from acidic aqueous nitrate medium using micro-porous hydrophobic poly- propylene hollow fiber contactor (HFC), and PC-88A/n-dodecane as an extractant. The NDSX operation was carried out with various concentration of PC-88A (5-30%) v/v by flowing feed solution (0.0001-0.05 M HNO3) of Am(III) (ca.10-6 -10-7 mol dm-3) through the tube side and organic through the shell side. The flow rates of aqueous and organic were optimized at 5.83 cm3s-1 and 1.53 cm3 s-1 respectively. The Am(III) was efficiently extracted in PC-88A employing this technique. The back extraction of Am(III) from organic phase was achieved using 4.0 M HNO3 as a receiving phase. (author)
