Since its introduction in the clinical practice more than three decades ago, it has had such diffusion that it is considered an important tool in the cardiology assistance. It provides trustworthy functional anatomic information, as well as diagnosis and is decisive in the treatment and resolution of cardiovascular diseases. The progressive development of this technique has enabled its use in all the different fields that may affect the cardiovascular system.
