Agreement between Denmark and Finland on exchange of information and notification concerning nuclear power plants

In the context of the adoption of the IAEA Convention on Early Notification of a Nuclear Accident, Denmark and Finland have entered into an agreement supplementing the provisions of the Convention with regard to direct notification and advance communication of technical information. The agreement applies to facilities and activities as specified in Article 1 of the IAEA Convention and provides that information comprising design, safety systems, radiation protection and measures to limit release of radioactive materials in the event of an accident shall be continually exchanged. The Parties undertake to directly inform one another forthwith in the case of an abnormal safety-related event which gives rise to emergency measures inside or outside the facility. The Party providing information shall respond promptly to a request from the other State for further information or for consultation following such an event

Dans le contexte de l'adoption a l'AIEA de la Convention sur la notification rapide d'un accident nucleaire, le Danemark et la Finlande ont conclu un accord bilateral destine a completer les dispositions de cette Convention en ce qui concerne les notifications directes et la communication a l'avance de donnees techniques. L'Accord s'applique aux installations et activites visees a l'article 1 de la Convention; il prevoit que les informations relatives au plan des installations, aux systemes de surete, a la radioprotection et aux mesures destinees a limiter les rejets de matieres radioactives en cas d'accident, feront l'objet d'echanges reguliers. Les parties s'engagent a s'informer directement l'une et l'autre de tout evenement anormal pouvant avoir une incidence sur la surete et qui requiert des mesures d'urgence a l'interieur ou a l'exterieur de l'installation. La Partie fournissant l'information devra satisfaire sans delai toute demande de renseignement complementaire et de consultation a la suite d'un tel evenement
