Description
Photoionization efficiency curves for Bin (n ≤ 4) in their threshold region (7.05 to 8.40 eV) have been measured by using synchrotron radiation, which crosses a molecular beam coupled with a time-of-flight mass spectrometer. Resonance lines due to autoionization are observed only for the monomer. The photoionization spectrum of Bi2 shows a depletion of intensity, which indicates a predissociation of Bi2 to Bi+ + Bi. Bi3 and Bi4 show only slowly varying profiles. (orig.)
