Description
Radiolytic reduction of Ce(4) in Ce(3) under different conditions and under the effect of different types of radiation is investigated in detail. The mechanism of this process is established, rate constants of reactions taking place when irradiating Ce(4) aqueous solutions are measured. In the cases of ions of other lanthanides, their reactivity relatively to primary products of water radiolysis radiation-chemical preparation of lanthanide ions in unusual states of oxidation are studied. Their properties are investigated by the method of pulsed radiolysis. It is shown that the greater reactivity relatively to esub(aq)sup(-) is observed in europium, i.e. in lanthanides having stable divalent ions. Under the effect of ionizing radiation on aqueous solutions of lanthanide ions luminescence more intensive in sulfuric acid solutions than in neutral solutions is observed
