Bunched-beam instabilities
Description
In this attempted synthesis, longitudinal and transverse instabilities will be expounded in parallel. The main results are presented here, while detailed derivations are given elsewhere. Landau damping is very briefly mentioned. Justification for this is that a companion invited paper on diagnosis and cures by A. Hofman should lay more emphasis on it
