Particle accelerating device including a subharmonic cavity
Description
A particle accelerating device is proposed. Its function is to produce an accelerated particles beam where the particles are gathered in packets. The particles are first gathered by mean of a resonating cavity, before being injected in packets inside an accelerating structure. The latter consists in a succession of accelerating cavities functioning with a high-frequency electromagnetic wave. The proposed device allows a more compact general structure, and avoids the divergence observed in previous devices

On propose un dispositif accelerateur de particules chargees qui partant d'un groupement en paquets de particules, reduise le nombre de paquet et augmente la charge acceleree. Les particules sont prealablement pregroupees au moyen d'une cavite resonnante avant d'etre injectees sous forme de paquets dans une structure acceleratrice. Cette structure comporte une succession de cavites acceleratrices fonctionnant avec une onde electromagnetique haute-frequence.
