Polarizer for magnetization of liquid in nuclear magnetic resonance instruments
Description
The design of a polarizer which is intended for the magnetization of liquids in NMR instruments is described. The polarizer is a compact set of permanent cylindrical ring magnets, with opposite poles facing each other. This design enables one to minimize the scattering flow and to increase the operating efficiency of the hard magnetic core. To mimimize dimensions and weight, the magnetic set of the polarizer is made on the base of barium oxide magnets. Presented are the necessary formulae for the calculation of permanent magnets for a given flow rate of polarized liquid Q and a sufficient amount of the liquid in the polarizer. Its design is given and the performances are listed for Q=50 l/hr, longitudinal relaxation time of approximately 1.8 s and field strength of 2.68x105 A/m
