Description
Studies on high energy heavy ions Ar and C demonstrate that: (1) Bubble detectors can be used to detect high energy heavy ion tracks. Each track is composed of a line of bubbles along the trajectory of the heavy ion; (2) Bubble detector is a type of threshold detector for heavy ions. The essence of the threshold is approximately critical energy loss rate (dE/dX)C, which is similar to that of track detectors. For authors' bubble detectors it is 2220 MeV/g·cm2. The bubble detectors can be used in heavy ion physics, cosmic ray physics, cold dark matter detection and cancer therapy simulation
