Experimental and theoretical studies of optical response from multilayer Nb/Al system

Description

Optical properties of Nb/Al multilayer films with modulation period d 8.5 - 200 A, prepared by high-frequency sputtering have been studied by ellipsometric method. The measurements have been made in the spectral range λ = 0.25-4.50 μm. A sharp increase in optical resistance at d < 60 A has been detected, which is brought about by the growth of electron scattering on interlayer and intergrain interfaces. Specific features of interzone absorption in the layered films are discussed. 22 refs.; 5 figs
