Inelastic interaction of a positron (electron) beam with a macroscopic particle of like charge

Description
The electric field configuration around conducting charged objects (macroscopic particles) in (r, z) geometry has been simulated numerically. The cross sections for the scattering of beams of light particles of like charge (electrons and positrons) by these objects are found as functions of the energy of the incident particles, the shape of the macroscopic particles, and the external longitudinal magnetic field. The inelastic interaction of beam particles with a macroscopic particle can occur with an efficiency sufficient to generate a surface electrostatic field on the order of 108--109 V/cm
