Description
Nonlinear waves propagating along the magnetic field in the cyclotron-resonance region are studied. The relativistic change in the mass of the electron in the pump wave is particularly important in this region. Even if the wave amplitudes are not very high, the effect of this mass change can be comparable to, and under certain conditions greater than, the ponderomotive effect which results from the change in the electron density caused by the rf pressure
