Uranium demand for the thermal reactor programmes is discussed showing the consumption of the various types of reactors, and the global plutonium production which would be expected to the year 2010 has been calculated on the basis of a PWR programme and a CANDU programme. The importance to the fast reactor programme of careful management of plutonium stocks is discussed. (U.K.)
