Description

Hitachi-GE Nuclear Energy, Ltd. (Hitachi-GE), GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy Americas LLC (GEH), and Global Nuclear Fuel - Americas, LLC (GNF-A) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the government of Saskatchewan to discuss the potential of working together on future nuclear R&D projects, including the feasibility of small modular reactor technologies. As the base plant, Hitachi-GE plans to adopt the DMS (Double MS: Modular Simplified & Medium Small Reactor), which has been developed under the sponsorship of The Japan Atomic Power Company. In this paper, we describe the desirable features of the DMS and present a tentative R&D project plan. (author)
