Review of irradiator personnel requirement with category I radioactive materials and irradiator by the radiation generation of category I as a consideration for development of the head of BAPETEN regulation on radiation safety within using irradiator

In 2010 the IAEA issued the Specific Safety Guide No. 8 Radiation Safety of Gamma, Electron and X-Ray Irradiation Facilities (SSG 8) containing the latest safety recommendations. Therefore it is necessary to adjust the BAPETEN Chairman Regulation Number 11/Ka-BAPETEN/VI-99 about Licensing of Irradiator Construction Operation. The most interesting topics to review are safety requirements for gamma irradiator category I, and electron and X-ray irradiator category I, one of which is the personnel requirement. Personnel requirements are important requirements to ensure radiation safety in the use of irradiators. Personnel required in the use of gamma irradiator category I, and electron and X-ray irradiator category I are radiation protection officers and irradiator operators. The required Radiation Protection Officer is a Level 1 Industrial Radiation Protection Officer, but for irradiator use in the hospital, may be replaced by a Level 1 Medical Radiation Protection Officer.
