Kinetics of the oxidation reaction of tetravalent neptunium by nitric acid, catalised by nitrous acid

Kinetics of the reaction Np4++1/2NO3-+3/2H2O→NpO2++1/2HNO2+5/2H+ have been studied in nitric acid 1 M at 50 deg C. According to the different concentrations of nitrous acid, two rate-lows have been observed -d[Npsub(IV)]/dt=k[Npsup(IV)].[Npsup(V)] and -d[Npsup(IV)]/dt=k'(Npsup(V)]. A mechanism using oxidation of neptunium V followed by a reaction of neptunium IV and neptunium VI is discussed

La cinetique de la reaction Np4++1/2NO3-+3/2H2O→NpO2++1/2HNO2+5/2H+ a ete etudiee dans l'acide nitrique 1 M a 500C. Suivant les concentrations de l'acide nitreux, deux lois de vitesse ont ete observees -d[Npsup(IV)]/dt=k[Npsup(IV)].[Npsup(V)] et -d[Npsup(IV)]/dt=k'[Npsup(V)].
