Dose-effect relationship between X-rays irradiation in variety of dose and CD14 expression in mouse macrophages in vivo and in vitro

Description
Objective: To study the dose-effect relationship between X-rays irradiation and CD14 expression in mouse macrophages in vivo and in vitro. Methods. The CD14 positive cells from mouse peritoneal macrophages were detected by flow cytometry (FCM) 16 hours after whole body irradiation (WBI) in vivo and from the cell line J774A.1 of mouse macrophages 4 hours after irradiation in vitro with X-rays from 0.05 Gy to 6.00 Gy. Results: WBI by low dose X-rays significantly enhanced the CD14 expression in peritoneal macrophages while the doses of 2.0 to 4.0 Gy caused an opposite effect. The X-irradiation in vitro caused a similar dose-effect curve but the suppression of CD14 expression occurred at doses of 4.0 to 6.0 Gy. Conclusion: Low dose irradiation can stimulate CD14 expression and high dose irradiation (>2.0 Gy) can suppress its expression both in vivo and in vitro
