Time-dependent models for magnetic CP stars: Pt. 5

Creators

  • 1. Manchester Univ. (UK). Dept. of Mathematics

Description

Following the 'oblique rotator' model for the magnetic fields of the CP stars, the evolution of large-scale magnetic fields immersed in the radiative envelopes of middle main-sequence stars is calculated over time-scales comparable with the main-sequence lifetimes of such stars. A fossil field origin is implicitly assumed, although some of the results would be relevant if the fields were generated by a contemporary dynamo in the convective core. (author)
