Experimental study on linear accelerator electron with HF-generator field energy storage

Description
Results of experimental investigations into the linear electron accelerator (LUEh) with HF-generator field energy accumulation being realized in its high frequency supply system are presented. Energy accumulation allows one to increase HF-wave pulse power at the accelerating section inlet without increasing the average power supplied by the generator. Two high quality resonators are used for accumulation. The maximum level of HF-wave power (∼ 55 MW) at the inlet of accelerating section is achieved at ∼ 12 MW generator power. Under the maximum wave power the beam energy increase makes up ∼ 70%. Experimental results are compared to the calculated ones
