Atomic collisions with heavy ions - recent developments at GSI
Description
The interaction of very heavy ions with matter at high velocities is considered emphasizing bio-physical aspects. A status report on the new accelerator facility SIS-ESR including the raster scan system is given. First atomic physic experiments are reviewed. X-ray emission experiments, ion-electron recombination, and an experiment to the bound beta-decay are treated in more detail. (orig.)
