On the abundance of heavy elements in the galactic centre
Description
The effect of heavy element abundances in stellar atmospheres on the ionization structure of the galactic centre is investigated. It is found that the observations of ionized neon are most readily fitted by a situation in which heavy elements are overabundant by a factor of 3 compared with solar values and ionization is provided by stars with effective temperatures around 40 000 K.
