Description

New spectral observations of the peculiar WC5 star HD 16523 have confirmed the strong emission doublet OVIΛΛ 3811,3834. Rapid variability of these lines has been detected on approximately 1 hour intervals. The spectral type of HD 16523 is uncertain as estimated from different criteria. The dependence of emission line widths on the ionization potentials is characterized by a consideable scattering. The spatial distribution of WR stars with strengthened oxygen lines and WR stars with probable relativistic companions are to be similar
