Neutron beams: their use and potential in scientific research
Description
The report describes the various kinds of research currently in progress using neutron scattering methods. The booklet has been prepared by the Neutron Beam Research Committee of the Science and Engineering Research Council (SERC) to publicise the neutron scattering facilities at the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, United Kingdom and at the Institut Laue-Langevin, France. The research topics discussed include: crystal structures, structure of liquid and amorphous materials, magnetic structures, large scale structures, molecular spectroscopy, collective modes, and phase transitions and statistical mechanics.
