Description
In tokamaks, internal structures must be protected against heat (thermal flux: 10 MW/m2), which implies the use of special materials and of efficient cooling systems. In this article materials such as copper-OFHC (oxygen free and high conductivity copper), CuCrZr (Cu:99, Cr:0.9, Zr:0.1) or DsCu-Al25 (Cu:99.75, Al2O3:0.25) are presented and their characteristics are given. The best solutions are: i) CuCrZr for composite materials, T < 400 Celsius degrees, 100 Mpa, 300 W/mK; ii) DsCu(Glidcop-Al25) for HIP joints, T > 400 Celsius degrees, reduced toughness. (A.C.)
