Concentration of radioactive cesium in soil and white clover at Fukushima and Miyagi prefectures kindergarten. Part. 2

Description

We investigated concentration of radioactive cesium (134Cs and 137Cs) in soil and various plants (mainly white clover) at Fukushima and Miyagi prefectures kindergarten caused by Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant accident. Gamma-ray spectra in the samples were measured by HPGe γ-ray spectrometer. Radioactivities of 134Cs and 137Cs in those samples were determined by γ-ray peaks of 605 and 662 keV, respectively. Concentration of radioactive cesium (134Cs + 137Cs) in soil was in the range of 12-80000 Bq/m2. Those concentrations in soil of most kindergartens were lowered by decontamination, but some were re-contaminated. Concentration of radioactive cesium in white clover was in the range of 4-60 Bq/kg, and the sample that was not decontaminated was relatively high concentration. It was suggested that concentration of radioactive cesium in white clover was closely related to contamination of soil. (author)
