Reliable classification of atypically localized osteoblastic metastases by SPECT/Spiral-CT: a case report
- 1. Nuklearmedizinische Klinik, Universitaetsklinikum Erlangen (Germany)
- 2. Gemeinschaftspraxis Radiologie-Nuklearmedizin-Strahlentherapie, Soest (Germany)
Description
Especially in bone scintigraphy, SPECT/CT-hybrid scanners enable the exact correlation of the enhanced bone metabolism with morphology, thus increasing the diagnostic accuracy. This case report demonstrates the utility of SPECT/CT in a patient with metastases from breast cancer. In bone scintigraphy, lesions of enhanced Tc-99m-DPD uptake were detected in localizations where one would normally expect degenerative or posttraumatic genesis. (orig.)
