History of creation of the first Soviet radiochemical technology of plutonium separation from irradiated uranium

Description

Historical review about creation of the first radiochemical technology of spent fuel reprocessing and plutonium separation in the Soviet Union was presented. Task on development of the technology was received in december 1945, and in february 1949 the first separated plutonium was obtained. Experience of organization of radium industry in the Soviet Union proved to be very useful for decision of this task. Basic factors defined the possibility of realization of radiochemical part of uranium project in extremely compact period were described
