Advantages of using a second isotope as a volume marker in radioimmunoassay

  • 1. Gut Hormone Center, Louvain (Belgium)

Description

A study was made regarding the reduction of total error in radioimmunoassays due to the use of a volume marker. A small amount of 22NaCl was selected for this purpose. Counting errors were higher because of the presence of the second isotope, but the total error was greatly reduced owing to a much lower experimental error. In addition, the speed of the separation step was increased as the operating procedure was greatly simplified. (author)
