Description
Thirty patients with carcinoma of the pancreas treated with intraoperative radiotherapy were studied retrospectively. One-year, 2-year survival rates and median survival time were respectively 56%, 20% and 14.8 months in resectable cases, and 9%, 9%, 5.5 months in unresectable cases. Univariate study showed that significant association with survival time was found in T-factor in resectable cases, and clinical stage and addition of extrabeam irradiation in unresectable cases. The palliative effects on abdominal or back pain were obtained in 92% of the unresectable cases. (author)
